Today I’d like to share a bit about the city I live in: Haarlem! If you don’t know it, Haarlem is located quite close to Amsterdam and definitely worth a visit. A big more easy-going than our capital and a lot smaller, but oh boy boy do we have a lot of fun hotspots to visit! In this post I’m sharing a few of my favourites.
Clothes shopping in Haarlem
The city centre is really easy to access by public transport. If you come by train you’ll soon find yourself in the main shopping street: de Grote Houtstraat. Here you’ll find a lot of big shops like Zara, Mango & H&M. My favourite addition to this street is Friday. I already wrote about the one in Amsterdam before, so I was happy this shop opened up just around the corner of my home! They sell the perfect mix of original must-haves & basics and I really love the feel of this shop!

This is where I got the outfit in today’s post!
Grote Houtstraat 108, Haarlem
Another street that is really worth visiting is de Kleine Houtstraat. Here you’ll find smaller boutiques & concept stores.
Smaller shopping street
Start from Grote Markt (the big market square around the Bavo square) and walk through the Warmoesstraat and Anegang (where you’ll find cute shops too) towards the Kleine Houtstraat. You’ll find a lot of pretty boutiques around here.
In case you are wondering where I get my vintage jeans: it’s at Episode! This vintage shop has loads of them. Try on a few and I’m sure you’ll find your match 🙂
Jansstraat 52, Haarlem
Interior shopping in Haarlem
If you are looking to redecorate your home, Haarlem is the perfect city to visit! I was quite surprised to find out how many interior shops there actually are when we moved here. I love browsing them when I have the time, to find cute little accessories to add to my home. My favourite street for this is the Koningstraat, where I took the picture above. This was at one of my favourite plant shops, Dennis. I just love my plants. In fact I have a little interior post coming up next week, to give you another peek into my home!
Koningstraat 14, Haarlem
A few houses further down you’ll find another shop by the same owner: Dennis Living. They have a lot of industrial items, which I always think adds a cool touch to your home.
Koningstraat 22, Haarlem
Another fave of mine is Sjakie’s, which is divided over two different shops. You’ll find the smaller version in the Koningstraat and a bigger version a bit further down. This shop has so many fun feel good items, making you want to take everything home.

Food & drinks in Haarlem
Now last but not least, my favourite part: FOOOOD! After a long day of shopping there’s nothing like having a good meal. And in Haarlem we do food well! There’s so many restaurants around here it’s hard to actually choose. I haven’t even tried all the restaurants yet, while I’ve lived here for 5 years already.
A great pick me up after shopping at Friday, which is just around the corner. They serve the best coffee and the vintage interior of this place makes you feel right at home.
Breestraat 23, Haarlem
I’m a sucker for good pizza and recently discovered Nolita. Very Instagrammable thanks to their marble tables!
Lange Veerstraat 17, Haarlem
This is where I go when I want to have a 3 course dinner. All meals are made with seasonal ingredients and I love the mix of different flavours. I’m not actually a food blogger so I suggest you just go there to get what I mean 😉
Lange Veerstraat 20-22, Haarlem
Haarlem is not really a place for partying, but we love catching up with friends over a drink. Seymour has a very old-fashioned vibe, making it my fave cocktail place for this.
Korte Veerstraat 1, Haarlem
I hope you enjoyed my little hotspot guide! Would love to hear if you have any additional tips and how you liked Haarlem.
