Just  before I left for New York I got in touch with Etsy, the online marketplace for selling and buying handmade and vintage items. You probably know it, maybe you even bought a cool thing or two there already. When I mentioned I was visiting New York I got invited to their Brooklyn office. The office is located just over the Brooklyn Bridge; the perfect excuse for us to rent some bikes and cycle over it. But more on that later.

Etsy HQ looks supernice, so I thought it would be cool to share some snaps I took. The office space is really open, which makes it easy for people to interact. It kind of felt like the peeps over at Etsy are one big family; they throw parties, food festivals, board game contests, have running groups and there’s even a room to practice meditation and yoga together. If you are looking for a little privacy for a phone call or meeting there are plenty of cool rooms with quirky food-related names like Public Edamame or The Rolling Scones.

The decoration of the place consists of loads of awesome pieces made by Etsy sellers, but the Etsy staff can get pretty creative too. There’s a hallway with a plant-wall, a front desk made out of trash and all pipes in the office have knitted cosies, to, you know, make things cosier. I thought it was really fun to get a little peak behind the scenes of such a modern working environment. The company is all about keeping a good work-life balance, which obviously is really important to stay sane.

Etsy definitely seems like a fun company to work at, don’t you think?
