amsterdam fashion week day 1

Yesterday was the opening day of Amsterdam Fashion week and I visited two  shows: MATTIJS en Azziz Bekkaoui. Both were very inspiring and totally different. The first one was inspired by Van Gogh and featured metallic fabrics and fall colours, the second one was influenced by the diversity you see in big cities and had an army theme going on. I didn’t see much I would wear myself (except for the fluffy checkered coat at Azziz and the purple coat at MATTIJS –  have I already told you I now have a thing for coats?), but then again if I wanted to, I probably wouldn’t be able to afford it anyway. I just love the experience of a well-produced fashion show. MATTIJS’ show started with a (pregnant?!) model singing a ballad and had leaves falling down from the sky, Azziz’s show had an army of models breakdancing to ‘Fight the power’ and ended with the designer himself doing his thing on the runway.

To top the evening off there was cake, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of AFW.
I won’t be visiting any shows tomorrow, since I’ll be going to the International Film Festival Rotterdam, like I did last year.

Enjoy your weekend!
