See what I did there? I skipped a day. Not because I didn’t go, but because I made one of those blogger mistakes: I left my camera card in the computer when rushing to Fashion Week for the third day. I was quite annoyed with it, because not only was I walking around like a fool with a camera that couldn’t take any pictures, I also couldn’t take pictures of some of the most interesting shows. The shows I visited on day 3 were by Tony Cohen, Dorhout Mees and Nata Ryzh. I was very much impressed by the quality of these shows and enjoyed Dorhout Mees’s show most of all. I love the atmosphere that was created, but talking about it without images seems a bit silly. That’s why I added a little teaser video below, which was shown at the beginning of the show. I think all garments were stunning, I just loved the shapes and prints that were part of this elegant collection. The show was very well executed, which made it a great experience to watch. Now on to the shows I saw at day 2 and day 4: The SS14 collection of Fredfarrowbrittavelontan (oof, mouthful) is inspired by nature. Watching it I think it reminds me of the sea and sea life. In fact it reminds me of fishing nets, coral reefs and mermaids, which is pretty cool. The Anne de Grijff (debut!) show was very impressive as well. The press release reads that her SS14 collection is inspired by traditional Dutch folding techniques. An original choice, which translates to a lot of geometric shapes (the shapes that are created when folding linen). Besides this idea being very original, the execution of the runway show was very original as well. The floor was covered in different shapes and while walking down the runway each model followed a different shape. This resulted in a sometimes chaotic, but above all very cool show. The live string quartet playing improvised jazz music really added to this. Again, it was a really cool experience to watch. As was the Dorhout Mees show. Of which I don’t have pictures. Boo me. Hope you enjoy these pics!
