Short skirt, long jacket

Whenever I write an outfit post I always look for the story behind the pictures. When editing today’s pictures it got to me that I’m wearing a short skirt and a long jacket, just like the famous song by Creed! If you don’t know it, that’s okay, it’s from 2001 and definitely not the best song ever. But somehow the lyrics always stuck with me, as they’re so odd. Here’s a bit to give you an idea:

She’s playing with her jewelry
She’s putting up her hair
She’s touring the facilities
And picking up slack
I want a girl with a short skirt
and a long jacket.

I wasn’t 100% sure about what he’s singing about, so of course I asked my friend Google. Apparently the girl with the short skirt and long jacket wants it all, the party lifestyle – the short skirt – and a good career – the long jacket. Sounds to me like that girl and this girl are going to be pals! As a girl who is torn between an office job and the fashion blogging life I can definitely relate. One day I’m going all out for a special event and the next day I’m just keeping it casual for work. Although if I’m honest, I’m happy enough to have found a job where people love it when I dress up and ask me if I’m ok when I’m doing casual. So I’ll just keep wearing my short skirt and long jacket. I mean, why choose when you can have it all?

Oh and in case you hadn’t noticed I shot these pictures in the beautiful Westminster area around the Melita Hotel, where I stayed. It felt very appropriate to wear this look in London, where office girls hit the club straight after work.
