5 ILLUSTRATORS FOR THE WALL

This post should have been on this blog a long long time ago. As a girl who loves to create stuff I feel kind of obliged to support my fellow creatives. I am a sucker for a cool poster, as you could tell by my interior sneak peek.  My plan is to curate my own collection at home, which will rotate every month or so. This way my interior will always change, keeping things interesting in an inexpensive way. The boyf and I are already browsing the web – as far as we can, dealing with the whole no internet situation and all. I’ve rounded up some of my faves in today’s post. Not only do these people create cool things, their work is super affordable. Changing up your interior will be as easy as changing outfits!

1. Andy Rementer

I only found out about this dude because of his collab with accessory brand Komono, for which he created 3 watch designs. When I saw this I knew I had to find out more about his work. All of his artworks make me happy instantly. The way Andy plays around with colours and shapes reminds me of Keith Haring a little bit. And I love Keith Haring! I haven’t ordered any artworks yet, but I’m sure I will very very soon.

2. Jenni Sparks

There’s something about maps that fascinates me. So when looking for map inspiration, as you do, I came across Jenni Sparks maps. These maps are incredibly detailed and I think you could actually use them when visiting a city. Although that would be a shame, they look much better on your wall. I know it doesn’t show on the picture above, but Jenni’s street art inspired ‘doodles’ are super cool. Just visit the website and zoom in. Or buy the damn poster already! Staring at your wall will never be boring again.

dont-worry-be-happy-illustrated-art-print3. Rifle Paper Co

If you love browsing Pinterest for cool stationary or posters chances are you already know about Rifle Paper Co. This brand was created by Mr. & Mrs. Bond and is now hugely popular. I can’t really pinpoint what it is, but there’s something about their whole range of cutesy things that makes them very recognizable. The one above is my fave as it has my main motto Don’t worry, be happy on it. But if you don’t like this print, I’m sure you find another one you’ll adore. I’m also a little bit obsessed with their wallpapers, but I’m leaving that for another post 😉

4. Dennis de Groot a.k.a. Punchdouble

When I interned at an advertising agency Dennis worked there as a graphic designer. This wasn’t the creative outlet he hoped for and he decided to work on a side project. I’m happy he did as this resulted in the awesome Bare Essentials “book”. I’m calling this a “book” because it actually is a collection of 50 minimalistic pop culture illustrations. And by minimalism I do not mean boring black and white images, I mean cool geometric shapes, forming icons like Mario, Bart Simpson and Spongebob – the latter was requested by yours truly.  This collection alone will give you plenty of prints to rotate!

Evelyn is definitely the girliest of all artists in this list. All of her prints are handdrawn and I love how she mixes water colour and calligraphy. This gives her prints a very authentic feel to them. The print above was one of my faves. I haven’t caved in for the whole flamingo interior trend, but Evelyn might make me do it. And in that case I might as well order the matching cup to go along with it, right?!
