Being an absolute shoe lover any shoe news is good news to me. So imagine my delight when I heard the latest news about Converse. Everything out there seems to be getting a 2.0 version, so why not update a classic: it’s time for the Chuck Taylor II! To top it off, they’re getting launched today! How cool is that?!
The original Chuck Taylor was created back in 1917 and it was designed as footwear for playing basketball. But it’s probably been a while since they’ve been worn for that reason, as they’ve become a classic piece of footwear. I mean, come on, whether you’re edgy or casual, young or old, these babies suit anyone. It’s mind-blowing to think that the shoe is now almost 100 years old and has become a shoe that most people have at least one pair of.
As for myself, the first time I slipped on a pair of Chucks I was probably about 15 years old. When I first got them they came in all sorts of editions – as they still do – and back then I got an army green pair. After that I also got another pair in tie dye and glitters. I remember being so excited when I got those pretty trainers! My motto was – and obviously still is – life’s too short to wear boring shoes.
I can’t wait to see the Chuck II’s in real life. They come in four different colors and it’s said that they are much more comfortable than the originals. I wasn’t the first person wearing those, BUT… hopefully I’ll be setting the trend and be the first to get a pair of Chuck Taylor II’s!
