What happened?! This year has gone by in the blink of an eye. 31 December is always a weird day. I ‘d rather look forward than look back, but obviously this is the perfect day to look back on everything that has happened in the past year and make plans for the next one. I’m glad I did just that and dived into the archives of my blog to look back on 2014. I have to admit this has been one of the best years so far! And it’s only going to get better. Here’s a couple of reasons why I loved 2014.
I celebrated my first blog anniversary
I started my blog two years ago in January, which means last year started with my blog anniversary. Good thing I’m making this post, this reminds me I already have my 2nd anniversary coming up! I never knew where I was going to go with A Dash Of Fash, so the fact I’ve been doing this for nearly 2 years is pretty crazy.
Met up with the guys behind OOTD Magazine for a photoshoot
So you’re probably following OOTDMagazine on Instagram, it’s a great source for daily outfit inspiration and discovering new bloggers. The account is run by two guys from The Netherlands, so when me and a couple of blogger friends heard they were in Amsterdam, we hopped on the train and met up with them. It was really cool to hear their back story and of course do a photo shoot with them!
Visited London
Le bf and me went on a city break to London! Not for any particular reason, except that his mum has bought a house in London, so yay, free accommodation! Besides loads of shopping I met up with blogger Van Anh of Chopstick Panorama and paid a visit to the RewardStyle office. I always love visiting London and will probably go there again in 2015 to visit mum-in-law!
I changed up my blog lay-out, introducing wallpapers
I used to host my blog on Blogger and was pretty fed up with it’s limited options and ugly lay-outs, so I decided to make the move to WordPress. This was the perfect reason to design a new look! I decided to design a monthly wallpaper each month and the rest is history 🙂 One of my faves is this one called ‘Raining Cats & Dogs’. Any requests for January? 😉
Did loads of fun new collaborations
The change of my blog lay-out definitely made my blog into something more professional. Lucky me, as loads of fun brands came knocking on my door for collabs! I really loved the shoot I did with Virgit for this collab with Dorothy Perkins. Other brands I worked with this year include VILA, Disaronno x Versace, Oasis, Tia Maria and my all time favourite… ASOS!
Won the Maruti Blogger Battle, a.k.a. a trip to NEW YORK FRIGGIN CITY!
Here it is, the number one reason that made my year so AWESOME! At the beginning of the year I was asked to take part in a blogger battle for shoe brand Maruti. Not only would I receive three pairs of their cool shoes, I would compete to win a trip to NYC! If you were following my blog back then you know how much I begged all of you to vote for me. And guess what?! I WON! I had always dreamed of visiting New York and the whole experience surpassed all of my expectations. I saw all of the highlights, visited a couple of hotspots and… went to a show at New York Fashion Week! I really wouldn’t mind doing this all again.
Found a new job!
In November something life-changing happened: I found a new (full-time) job: online marketeer at Kitsch Kitchen. So far this is the most awesome job I have ever had. I’m really excited for 2015, because I know I’ll be doing so many cool things. This obviously means I’m blogging a little less, as you may have noticed already. But I’m going to be doing a lot of stuff I wouldn’t be able to do all by myself. And I promiss I’ll keep you posted about everything I’m proud of.
